This photoelectric conversion element has the following: a first electrode that has a light-absorber-containing photosensitive layer on top of a conductive support; a second electrode opposite the first electrode; and a hole-transport layer between the first electrode and the second electrode. The light absorber contains at least one compound (P) that has a perovskite crystal structure that can be represented by formula (I). This solar cell is provided with the aforementioned photoelectric conversion element. Formula (I): Aa(MA1 (1−n)MA2 n)mAXx In the formula, A represents a cationic group that can be represented by RA-NH3; MA1 and MA2 represent metal atoms that are different from each other; n represents a number that satisfies the relation 0 ≤ n ≤ 0.5; X represents an anionic atom; a represents the number 1 or 2; mA represents the number 1; a, mA, and x satisfy the equation a+2mA = x; RA, which may have a substituent, represents an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an aryl group, a heteroaryl group, or a group that can be represented by R1bC(=Xa)-; Xa represents NR1c, an oxygen atom, or a sulfur atom; and R1b and R1c each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent. |
