PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline fuel battery system of novel configuration which assures resistance against CO.SOLUTION: There are provided an air COfiltration assembly containing a COfilter or trap, or a system, being designed and configured to have a large volume, though with limitation, for minimizing COlevel in the air stream supplied to a fuel battery cathode by maximizing filtering/absorbing of COfrom the air stream supplied to an alkaline fuel battery. The COfilter or trap includes strong coupling COchemical filter or trap and at least one thermal regeneration COchemical filter or trap arranged in a tandem configuration. A combination of two kinds of filters or traps sequentially filter/absorb COfrom the air stream, to reduce the COlevel in the air stream supplied to the cathode. The COfiltering assembly or system may be used together with electrochemical purging of an alkaline fuel battery. |
