This method is configured such that data (application area data) on the position, shape, width, and the like of an application area of an envelope are set on a control unit, the application area and the position thereof of an individual envelope being conveyed are detected, a printer is controlled by the control unit on the basis of the resulting detection data and the application area data which have been set, and fine droplets of liquid formed by the printer are printed on the detected application area while the envelope is being conveyed. The liquid application device is equipped with the control unit, the printer, and a detection means such that the control unit is capable of storing the application area data used for applying the liquid and of controlling the printer on the basis of the stored application area data and the application area detected by the detection means, and the printer is controlled by the control unit so as to be capable of spraying and printing or applying fine droplets of the liquid from a nozzle onto the application area of the conveyed envelope detected by the detection means. |
