The method includes the steps of: applying a direct-current voltage not less than a light emission start voltage to the organic electroluminescence element and measuring an impedance spectrum of the organic electroluminescence element; calculating a capacitance from the impedance spectrum; and determining whether a value of the capacitance is positive or negative.
