<p>The invention provides for a glider (10) for electric power production from wind (50), said glider comprising an airfoil (14), onboard steering means (20, 22, 24) for pitching, rolling and yawing the glider (10) when airborne, sensor means (17, 17', 1 8) providing a first signal related to an absolute position of the glider (10), a second signal related to an air speed of the glider (10) and a third signal related to an acceleration of the glider (10), a control device connected to the steering means (20, 22, 24) for controlling autonomous flight of the glider (10) based on the signals provided by the sensor means (17, 17', 18), and a connection means for a tether (44) connecting the glider (10) to a ground-based electrical machine (46) constructed for converting a lift force generated upon exposure of the airfoil (14) to wind (50) and transferred to the ground via the tether (44) into electric power. The invention further provides for a system for electric power production from wind (50) comprising a glider (10) according to the invention, a ground-based electrical machine (46) and a tether (44) for connecting the glider (10) with the electrical machine (46), wherein the electrical machine (46) is constructed for converting a lift force generated upon exposure of the airfoil (14) to wind (50) and transferred to the ground via the tether (44) into electrical power. The invention also provides for the use of a glider (10) according to the invention for electric power production from wind (50).</p> |
