A method for feeding a plurality of tread bands (100) in a process for building tyres for vehicle wheels is described. Each tread band initially comprises, on a side thereof, a service fabric (100a). The tread bands are initially arranged at different heights. The method comprises positioning a first auxiliary conveyor belt of an auxiliary collection device (30) comprising a plurality of juxtaposed auxiliary conveyor belts (31) at a first height corresponding to the height of a first tread band. Then, proceeding with the removal of said service fabric (100a) from said first tread band while said first tread band is transferred onto said first auxiliary conveyor belt. The method also comprises positioning at least one second auxiliary conveyor belt of said auxiliary collection device (30) at at least one second height corresponding to that of at least one second tread band. An apparatus (1) that carries out the aforementioned method is also described. |
