To enable a terminal that does not have a chat function to participate in a chat between terminals having a chat function. A conversation management system having a chat server for transmitting/receiving chat data between terminals, an email server for transmitting/receiving email conversation data between terminals, and a data conversion server for converting chat data and email conversation data. The chat server transmits/receives chat data to/from a chat-side terminal and the email server transmits/receives email conversation data to/from an electronic-mail-side terminal. The data conversion server converts the chat data received by the chat server into the email conversation data and transmits the converted data to the electronic-mail-side terminal, and converts the email conversation data received by the email server into the chat data and provides the converted data as new chat data to the chat server.
