PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-terminal non-local spin valve element, a hard disk head and magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus capable of reducing the size and hardly subject to external influence.SOLUTION: A non-magnetic base layer 10 includes: a first terminal including a first magnetic layer 16 which is connected in the vicinity of one end face in a pair of opposing end faces in the non-magnetic base layer in a direction the non-magnetic base layer extends and the direction of magnetization of which is variable; a second terminal which includes a second magnetic layer 14 formed separated away from the first terminal being connected to the non-magnetic base layer and the direction of magnetization is fixed; and a third terminal which includes a third magnetic layer 12 formed being separated from the first terminal and the second terminal being connected to the non-magnetic base layer and the direction of magnetization of which is fixed parallel and opposite to the magnetization direction of the second magnetic layer. The second terminal and the third terminal are connected to a current source which flows a sense current; and one terminal in the first terminal, the second terminal and third terminal is connected to a voltage detection section that detects the voltage.
