PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blast furnace operation method which can reduce an amount of generated COin real terms by effectively using generated COand/or CO.SOLUTION: A blast furnace operation method includes: a step A of separating and recovering COand/or CO from mixed gas; a step B of adding hydrogen to the COand/or CO separated and recovered in the step A to convert the COand/or CO into CH; a step C of separating and removing HO from the gas having undergone the step B; a step D of blowing the gas having undergone the step C into a blast furnace; and a step E of producing hydrogen using heat of reaction generated in the step B. At least a part of the hydrogen produced in the step E is used in the step B. Blast furnace operation, effectively using COand/or CO, can be performed at a low cost by: separating and recovering COand/or CO from mixed gas and converting the COand/or CO into CH, and blowing the CHinto the blast furnace to make the CHfunction as a heat source and a reducing agent; and using heat of reaction, generated when converting the COand/or CO into the CH, for production of hydrogen and using the hydrogen in the step B. |
