PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for an electrochemical cell capable of maintaining sufficient discharge capacity over a wide temperature range by improving a low temperature property without impairing a capacity property at a normal temperature or a high temperature property such as capacity maintainability at a high temperature, and an electrochemical cell employing the same.SOLUTION: The electrochemical cell comprises a positive electrode 10, a negative electrode 20, a separator 30 disposed between the positive electrode 10 and the negative electrode 20 and an electrolyte 50 containing at least supporting salt and an organic solvent within a housing container 2. The electrolyte 50 contains at least the supporting salt and the organic solvent and the organic solvent is a mixed solvent containing: a composition (1) {ethylene carbonate and propylene carbonate of annular carbonate solvents}; a composition (2) {at least one of ethyl methyl carbonate, diethyl carbonate and dimethyl carbonate of linear carbonate solvents}; and a composition (3) {dimethoxyethane of a linear ether solvent}. |
