This invention acquires added information relating to a video signal inputted from the outside and appropriately superimposes said added information onto the video signal. In order to do so, this video reception device (40), which is configured so as to send and receive data over a communication network (16), is provided with an input unit (65), a video extraction unit (45), a control unit (41), and an added-information display control unit (46). The control unit controls the video reception device so as to request that a video recognition device (20) perform a video recognition process on a partial video extracted by the video extraction unit and acquire the result of said video recognition process, along with added-information display control information, from the video recognition device. The added-information display control unit computes a display completion time for the added information on the basis of the display control information and the system time from when the video extraction unit extracted the partial video. On the basis of said display completion time, the added-information display control unit controls the superimposition of the added information onto the video signal. |
