The method and the device according to the invention allow the linear separation of two elements fastened to one another via two respective connecting surfaces (12, 22), which are conical in this example, of a first element (1) and a second element (2), using thermite (24) placed on the other side of the wall of the outer element (2), across from the connecting means (11) placed between the two connecting surfaces (12, 22). The electrical triggering of this thermite (24) causes rapid and local heating, at the connecting means (11), which, after melting, allow the separation of the two elements.
