<p>Disclosed are an image conversion method and apparatus from RGB signals to RGBY signals. The method comprises: converting received RGB input signals into corresponding RGB brightness input values; determining RGBY brightness output values according to the position relationship of corresponding points of the RGB brightness input values and areas which are divided by RGBY in a chrominance map; and converting the determined RGBY brightness output values into corresponding RGBY output signals and outputting the RGBY output signals. According to the present invention, the corresponding points of the RGB brightness input values in the chrominance map are determined, so that the RGB brightness input values can be converted into the RGBY brightness output values, and accordingly colors are prevented from being distorted in the process that the RGB signals are converted into the RGBY signals. In addition, numerical values of the RGBY brightness output values can be adjusted according to requirements when the RGBY brightness output values are determined according to the corresponding points of the RGB brightness input values in the chrominance map, so that the brightness of a display apparatus can be improved integrally and accordingly the image contrast ratio can be improved.</p> |
