<p>Detectors and methods for detecting electromagnetic radiation and/or EPR/NMR are disclosed, which exploit the electron-spin-dependent fluorescence of a colour centre in a solid. In one example, a detector comprises a substrate arranged to receive an input radiation to be detected and comprising a colour centre of a type that exhibits electron-spin-dependent fluorescence, and a spin measurement section for probing the spin state of the colour centre using fluorescence, thereby detecting input radiation that is such as to change the spin state of the colour centre.</p> |
