PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve stability of rotation in an endless image holding body which is brought into contact with/separated from a transfer member.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus (U) includes: an endless image holding body (B); a transfer member (T2b) for transferring an image on the image holding body to a continuous sheet (S); displacement control means (C6) of the transfer member for relatively moving the transfer member (T2b) and the image holding body (B) in contact/separation direction; a support member (2) for moving in contact with/away from the image holding body (B); and displacement control means (C5) of the support member for bringing the support member (2) and the image holding body (B) into contact with each other when the transfer member (T2b) is separated from image holding body (B), and separating the support member (2) from the image holding body (B) when the transfer member (T2b) is brought into contact with the image holding body (B). |
