<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the contact of a separation member with a rotating body in association with jam processing of a recording medium.SOLUTION: There is provided a recording medium separation device that separates a recording medium conveyed from a fixing nip part formed by two fixing members from any one of the two fixing members, and includes separation means provided downstream of the fixing nip part, holding means for holding the separation means with respect to any one of the two fixing members in a non-contact state, and position adjustment means for adjusting the position of the separation means with respect to the holding means in the vertical direction with respect to the conveyance direction of the recording medium, where the position adjustment means includes first elastic means applying urging force to the separation means, control means for controlling the urging force applied by the first elastic means, and second elastic means for applying urging force to the rotation fulcrum of the holding means with respect to the device body, and the first elastic means applies a larger urging force than the urging force applied by the second elastic means.</p> |
