PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp lighting device capable of precisely determining whether or not a discharge lamp is turned on.SOLUTION: A lamp lighting device 1 includes: a lamp voltage generating part 3 in which an AC voltage of a frequency (drive frequency) corresponding to the frequency of a pulse to be input is generated and applied to a discharge lamp 2; and a control part 5 which determines whether or not the discharge lamp 2 is turned on based on the AC voltages generated respectively in response to the input of the pulse with at least two kinds of the frequencies (drive frequency). |
