<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that a method of applying catalyst metal particulates on the surface of a carrier becomes inefficient in usage since particulates lap mutually if catalyst metal particulates get smaller though heretofore methods of applying the catalyst metal particulates on the surface of the carrier or of mixing the catalyst metal particulates in the carrier are used to improve a catalyst efficiency or to reduce the amount used, and further, a method of mixing the catalyst metal particulates in the carrier becomes inefficient in usage since the catalyst surface area becomes smaller. <P>SOLUTION: In the catalyst, the catalyst metal particulate (metal particulate having a catalyst action) is fixed to the surface of the carrier with a single layer.
