<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable one processing unit to process reading signals from each image reading unit while securing a reading speed in an image reading device which comprises a first image reading unit for reading one side of a document conveyed along a conveyance path, and a second image reading unit for reading another side of the document conveyed along the conveyance path. <P>SOLUTION: Where an ADF side CIS corresponds to an A4 document size and a FB side CIS corresponds to an A3 document size, when executing double sides reading of the A4 size document, output timing of trigger signals TGA and TGB which is input to the ADF side CIS and the FB side CIS is set up as follows. That is, when output of a reading area corresponding to a narrow side of A4 size in analog output A is finished, output of the reading area corresponding to the narrow side of A4 size in analog output B is set up to be started.
