<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting unit capable of realizing higher illuminance and high uniformity in illuminance, and to provide an image reader provided with the lighting unit. <P>SOLUTION: A lighting unit of one embodiment is provided with a light source part and a reflection member. The light source part comprises a light-emitting part formed linearly and emitting light. The reflection member comprises a reflection surface reflecting light emitted from the light-emitting part of the light source part, to a predetermined range. The reflection surface has a cross section in the shape of a bent line comprising a plurality of line segments along a reference ellipse having a long axis forming a predetermined angle with a direction perpendicular to the predetermined range, in a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the light-emitting part of the light source part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
