<p>Disclosed is a force compensation system comprising an elastomeric or laminated rubber bearing 9 having two opposed loading members. Two supporting parts of a negative spring unit are respectively mechanically coupled together with two opposed loading members of the elastomeric bearing such that relative lateral movement imparted to the supporting parts is experienced more or less proportionately as movement between two opposed loading members, where combined positive spring rate of the elastomeric bearing is partially compensated by negative spring rate of the negative spring unit. The negative spring means comprises an elongated member or pusher 3 that comprises a source of compressive force between two ends 1 and 2 to provide the force on the supporting parts. The system can be used as an over-centre device in a collective pitch force compensation system for helicopter to reduce forces on the collective pitch stick experienced by the pilot.</p> |
