The present invention relates to a location tracking system of a transporter for transporting a ship block, and a method thereof. The location tracking system of a transporter for transporting a ship block includes: a reference location sensing apparatus which is installed in an open space, and acquires current location information of the transporter; a traveling track tracking apparatus which is installed at a part of the transporter, and acquires traveling track information and location information of the transporter; and a server which reestablishes the current location of the transporter by using the current location information, and tracks the location of a block arranged in a yard by using the location information. The location tracking system of a transporter for transporting a ship block and a method thereof according to the present invention can track the location of ship blocks precisely and efficiently, and can use yard space where the ship block is arranged efficiently, and can save labor force and time for block management, by enabling a user to track the traveling track of the transporter at a place having a phenomenon in which GPS signal reception is cut off, using the reference position sensing apparatus installed in the open space and the traveling track tracking apparatus installed at the transporter in parallel.
