A valve system in a fluidic cartridge comprising an isolation valve on a first channel, channel network which is connected to the first channel and a control valve on a second channel within the channel network wherein the isolation valve isolates the channel network and the control valve adjusts the volume of the network. Preferably the second channel is a by-pass channel. A valve for a fluidic cartridge comprising a valve cavity D200 having first and second openings D242, D243 connected to first and second passageways D212, D213, respectively; and a flexible membrane D205 within the valve cavity, the flexible membrane having a first portion D222 that is actuated to seal against the first opening and a second portion D233 that is actuated to seal against the second opening, wherein the valve cavity is configured such that the first flexible membrane portion may be actuated independently of the second flexible membrane portion to enable the first opening to be sealed independently of the second. Ideally, the actuation is performed by mechanical means. The valve may include a third opening and passageway D214. |
