Fuel oil exchanger utilizing heat pipes

A heat exchanger 10 comprises a housing 30 with a first fluid flowing from a first inlet 50 to a first outlet 52 in a first flow path 54, and a second fluid flowing from a second inlet 60 to a second outlet 62 in a second flow path 64. An array of heat pipes 22 within the housing 30 extends between the first flow path 54 and the second flow path 64 for transferring heat from the first fluid to the second fluid. The fluids may flow in chambers between inlets and outlets and the chambers may be separated by a wall 20 made out of a heat-conducting material. The heat pipes 22 may have a wick structure layer. The device is particularly suitable for transferring heat from oil to fuel in a gas turbine engine.
