<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To combine the alarm playing a role in allowing a driver to notice an object around a vehicle, with the operational support for supporting the driving operation of a driver for avoidance of the object in a seamless manner so as not to allow the driver to feel any sense of incongruity. <P>SOLUTION: An object present around a vehicle such as on a rear back side is detected, the distance to the object is calculated, the relative speed of the object is calculated, and the time allowance before the vehicle reaches the object is calculated. The vehicle has a means for supporting the steering by applying the control signal to a steering actuator, which generates the pulse-like signal according to at least one of the distance, the relative speed and the time allowance, and superposes the pulse-like signal on the control signal so that the superposed control signal is applied to the steering actuator.
