PURPOSE: A positive electrode active material for a secondary battery is provided to reduce the positive electrode resistance by transition metal contained in a lithium cobalt oxide, thereby being capable of obtaining remarkably excellent rate properties and cycle properties. CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode active material for a secondary battery comprises a lithium cobalt oxide. The lithium cobalt oxide contains one or more heterogeneous transition metal selected from Ti and Zr. The heterogeneous transition metal is placed inside the lithium cobalt oxide and on the surface of the lithium cobalt oxide. A part of the heterogeneous transition metal is contained in an impurity form and the other part is contained in a shape substituting Co. The content of the heterogeneous transition metal is 0.01-0.15 weight% based on the total weight of the positive electrode active material. |
