A method includes accessing television (TV) command data including a plurality of TV commands for controlling a TV. The plurality of TV commands includes at least one selection of a feature. The method may include identifying a first pattern of TV commands based on the TV command data. The first pattern of TV commands correlates with the at least one selection of a feature. The method may further include receiving a second pattern of TV commands. The method may include determining whether the second pattern of TV commands substantially matches the model pattern of TV commands. In addition, the method may include providing a feature recommendation based on the at least one selection of the feature in response to a determination that the second pattern of TV commands substantially matches the model pattern of TV commands.

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:
accessing television (TV) command data including a plurality of TV commands for controlling a TV, wherein the plurality of TV commands includes at least one selection of a feature of the TV and wherein the feature of the TV comprises at least one of an application or setting for the TV and is not a channel change command; identifying that at least one user selects a particular feature of the TV based on the TV command data; analyzing the TV command data to determine a model pattern of TV commands that correlates with the at least one user selecting the particular feature of the TV, wherein analyzing the TV command data includes:
determining a prospective data set and a test data set from the plurality of TV commands,identifying a prospective pattern of TV commands associated with a prospective selection of a feature in the prospective data set,identifying a test pattern of TV commands associated with a test selection of a feature of the TV in the test data set, wherein the test pattern of TV commands substantially matches the prospective pattern of TV commands,determining whether the prospective selection of the feature of the TV substantially matches the test selection of the feature of the TV, andidentifying the prospective pattern of TV commands as the model pattern of TV commands in response to a determination that the prospective selection of the feature of the TV substantially matches the test selection of the feature of the TV; identifying a current pattern of TV commands based on TV commands received within predefined parameters; determining whether the current pattern of TV commands substantially matches the model pattern of TV commands; and providing a feature recommendation for the particular feature of the TV in response to a determination that the current pattern of TV commands substantially matches the model pattern of TV commands, wherein the feature recommendation includes information regarding one of an existence of the particular feature of the TV or an applicability of the particular feature of the TV to a television viewer's current TV activity.
