Purpose of the present invention is to provide an improved coupling assembly which provides improved handling during a surgery and easy handling, has an expanded application, and is used in coupling of a rod with a bone anchoring element. The coupling assembly for coupling a rod with a bone anchoring element has a structure of sequentially fixing and locking a head of a bone anchoring element and a rod by a locking element using a single driving unit. The head is first clamped while the rod is movable by fastening the locking element. When the cooperating part of a compression element and a rod receiving element is transformed, the head is locked and then the rod is fixed. |
