1. A method comprising:
receiving at a remote storage system coupled to a network:
a content item from a content provider; anda license to the content item from the content provider, wherein the content item cannot be displayed on a user system without the license to the content item; receiving at the remote storage system a first request from a first particular user system coupled to the network to send the content item and the license to the content item to the first particular user system, wherein the first particular user system is coupled to the network separately from the remote storage system; in response to the first request, sending the content item and the license to the content item from the remote storage system to the first particular user system; receiving at the remote storage system a second request from the first particular user system on behalf of a second particular user system coupled to the network to send the content item to the second particular user system, wherein the first request and the second request are different requests; and in response to the second request, sending the content item from the remote storage system directly to the second particular user system, wherein the content item is not sent from the first user system.
