The screening wall is designed provide protection from noise emanating from industrial installations, airfields, railway tracks, roads and other sources. It comprises a load bearing and simultaneously sound-deadening wall of reinforced concrete (1) and a sound-absorbing layer, the two being cemented or pinned together. The sound-absorbing layer is in the form of porous panels (3) of plastic-bonded elastomer fibres, reinforced with web inlays, and if necessary with an additive of mineral fibres, the whole being applied to a wall surface which is flat of profiled. The concrete wall may be grooved (4) in the peripheral area near the panel. The reinforcing web inlay may be of plastic or glass threads, and the panels basically of rubber. Bonding and impact resistance are improved, and lower-frequency sounds can be absorbed.
