The electrical damping circuit, for damping the mechanical oscillations of piezoelectric elements, allows rapid adjustment to any required amplitude by forming an electrical signal that acts against the signal causing the oscillations. The counteracting signal may be a pulse voltage superimposed on the deflecting voltage, or a negative feedback voltage derived from the deflection rate. The feedback voltage is obtained by connecting the piezoelectric element into an RC bridge (5-8) whose one diagonal is coupled to the inputs of a diff. amplifier. The amplifier's output is combined with the pulses (10), amplified (11) and applied to the element (5).
