Novel picolinic acid derivatives of the formula I <IMAGE> in which Q1 is hydroxyl, and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, are prepared by hydrolysing compounds of the formula XVIII <IMAGE> in which Z is cyano or the group -COQ and R3 to R6 and Q have the meaning given in Patent Claim 1, where appropriate followed by the preparation of the cyanomethyl esters. The novel compounds are of value in the treatment of acne. |
