A system for controlling access to recipient information in electronic marketing campaigns within an enterprise wherein the enterprise includes hierarchically structured Business Units having an enterprise level Business Unit at the highest level and a plurality of second level Business Units, the system comprising:
memory accessible only by an enterprise level device on which an All Recipients list of recipients of electronic message campaigns of all Business Units of the enterprise is stored with recipient information being associated with each recipient and each recipient being associated with one or more attributes; a server communicatively coupled to an enterprise system and a plurality of recipient devices via a computer network and configured to assign an enterprise account to the enterprise system and generate a user interface presented to the enterprise level device via the computer network upon authenticating the enterprise account, the interface being configured to allow a user of the enterprise level device to maintain a recipient list for all recipients of electronic messages associated with one or more electronic marketing campaigns from any enterprise Business Unit which recipient list includes information regarding each recipient, the user interface being further configured to allow a user of the enterprise level device to access the memory and determine which recipients of the All Recipients list is to be sent to each of the plurality of second level devices based at least in part on the one or more attributes with which each recipient is associated, and the user interface being further configured to allow the enterprise level device to authorize each of a plurality of second level devices to design and send electronic messages via the network to a subset of the plurality of recipients; and an electronic message engine communicatively coupled via the server and the network to the enterprise system configured to generate electronic messages within a message campaign for sending to the subset of recipients.
