PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of determining a unit being the factor of the occurrence of an image defect in an early stage.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 includes: a photoreceptor drum 321; a charger 322; a development device 324; and a discharger 328. The development device 324 is configured so as to attached/detached to/from a device main body 10. The photoreceptor drum 321 and the charger 322 are supported by a drum unit 321H, and configured so as to be attached/detached to/from the device main body 10. An image formation control part 95 is configured to allow a charging bias to be applied to the charger 322, and to set the photoreceptor drum 321 to a predetermined target potential VB1 in a state that the discharger 328 is allowed to execute a discharging operation in the case of performing an image forming operation. A check mode control part 94 is configured to allow a bias for determination including a DC voltage smaller than the charging bias to be applied to the charger 322, and to set the photoreceptor drum 321 to the target potential VB1 in a state that the discharger 328 is allowed to stop the discharging operation in the case of executing a check mode. |
