PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a cleaning blade from being turned up in an early stage of use of a developing unit and an image carrier.SOLUTION: When a developing unit and a photoreceptor drum are in an unused state, the developing unit is controlled under an initial mode development condition which is set so as to reduce the amount of external additive flying from the developing unit (S10-S14). In the initial mode, the cleaning blade is prevented from being turned up by the external additive flying from the developing unit. Furthermore, control of the developing unit under the initial mode development condition makes it possible to prevent the cleaning blade from being turned up until after the drive torque of the photoreceptor drum drops to or below a threshold. Thereafter, when the drive torque of the photoreceptor drum drops to or below the threshold (Yes in S14), control of the developing unit is switched to a preset normal mode development condition (S15). |
