PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decelerate at a proper timing during following a preceding vehicle, to maintain appropriate platooning.SOLUTION: When a vehicle travels in column with a plurality of vehicles on the same lane, a platoon control apparatus detects an inter-vehicle time THW with respect to a preceding vehicle, and selects one of vehicle-time control and vehicle-distance control according to the inter-vehicle time THW. When the inter-vehicle time THW maintains a target inter-vehicle time Tt, the vehicle-time control is performed. A lower limit threshold Tthdetermined in advance in a range smaller than the target inter-vehicle time Tt is set. A range from the target inter-vehicle time Tt to the lower limit threshold Tthis set as a dead zone for maintaining the vehicle-time control. When the inter-vehicle time THW falls below the lower limit threshold Tthduring the vehicle-time control, the vehicle-distance control is selected instead of the vehicle-time control. |
