PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability when performing wild card retrieval.SOLUTION: An electronic dictionary 1 comprises: an input part 30 for inputting a search string for dictionary retrieval on the basis of user operation; and a CPU20 for inserting a wild card symbol into the search string being input according to detection of character input delay via the input part 30.
