The rotary and insert head is for precision machining of the end areas of non-rotary workpieces e.g. automotive spring stabilisers, cardan joint cross-pieces and incorporates a hollow shaft to which is rigidly attached a ring body. Inside the hollow shaft is an operating shaft, both shafts rotating together, but the latter being adially displaceable. In the ring body and area is an inclined toothed planet wheel (43) combining with corresponding wheels (64) attached to coaxial shafts on the free ends of which are eccentric pins. Parallel to the lengthways axis of the unit, bearing pins extend on the face side of the ring body, on which the tool holders are swivelably located by means of an eyelet.
