A method and device for determining the braking characteristics of a vehicle are partic. used for evaluation of the relations between wheel braking torque and time, speed and/or deceleration. While conventional methods enable only average value measurement, this method provides continuous information. An electrical signal representing the braking torque is combined with its corresp. independent variable on an x-y recorder display to directly show the characteristic required. The torque signal is input to the dependent variable connection and a time, speed, or deceleration signal to the independent variable connection. The torque signal may be derived from strain gauges fitted to measurement wheels and connected in a bridge circuit.
