A solar energy collector placed between the rafters or bearers of a glass, plastic or metal roof or facade. The collecting surface may be ribbed, and may form one side of a parallel-sided water circulation system. The roof surface is pref. of strips of glass, plastics, etc. laid across the rafters and each sealed or welded to the next. Behind the collector there are preferably long strips of plastics heat-insulating material to serve as draught excluders, as well as mats or plates of insulating material between the rafters.
