<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil for engine oil that improves thin-film and/or boundary-layer friction particularly in an engine.SOLUTION: The lubricating oil comprises a major amount of a base oil and a minor amount of an additive package. The additive package comprises, as a friction modifier, a compound comprising an imide/amide represented by a specific structure and a carboxylic acid or a dicarboxylic anhydride, or a salt thereof. The imide/amide compound includes, e.g., lysine dodecenyl succinimide, 2-amino-5-(octadec-9-en-1-ylamino)-5-oxopentanoic acid, 2-amino-4-(octadec-9-en-1-ylamino)-4-oxobutanoic acid, 2-amino-6-(3-(dodec-1-en-1-yl)-2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl)hexanoic acid, 2-amino-6-(octadec-9-enamido)hexanoic acid, 2-amino-6-(3-icos-1-yl)-2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl)hexanoic acid, and the like.</p> |
