<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device capable of suppressing generation of silica filming when an image with a low image area percentage is printed, while suppressing wear of an image carrier surface, and to provide an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge including the cleaning device, and a toner to be used in the image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A cleaning device 50 includes a cleaning member 51 for removing a residual toner after transfer on an image carrier 21 where an image is formed by using a toner containing silica as an external additive; and the cleaning device further includes a filming removal member 61 that removes filming on a surface of the image carrier, and contacting and separating means 64 that brings or separates the filming removal member into contact with or from the image carrier. In sparse image printing, that is, printing an image with less than 4% image area percentage, the filming removal member is brought into contact with the image carrier; and in printing except for sparse image printing, the filming removal member is separated from the image carrier.</p> |
