PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication method that eliminates concern over leaking an optical signal to the outside even if a connector at either side is disconnected, by connecting two devices having the same configuration by an electric optical cable, and making both devices detect an electric conduction state with each other and transmit an optical signal.SOLUTION: Two devices 2 are connected by an optical cable 1 comprising an optical fiber 11 and an electric wire 12. The optical cable 1 comprises a plurality of terminal parts, and comprises connectors 10 supporting the optical fiber 11 at both ends. Each of the devices 2 makes two terminals 102, 103 in the terminal part at each of both connectors 10 in a conduction state, and two conduction paths are formed. A method includes at each of the devices: a process of forming one conduction path; a process of detecting formation of the other conduction path; and a process of transmitting an optical signal to the optical fiber 11 after the detection. |
