PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmissive display device capable of displaying contents with appropriate screen luminance without requiring a user's troublesome operation, and a method of controlling the transmissive display device.SOLUTION: A head mounted display device HM for allowing a user to visually recognize a content as a virtual image comprises: a display unit 40 that displays the content in a predetermined display area; and a control unit 30 that determines a background color of the content and use environment luminance, and adjusts luminance of the display area in accordance with the determination results thereof. |
