<p>Rotary tool for machining heavy components such as journals, large crankshafts etc. has a hollow element with hard metal inserts and is supported on a bearing around its outer surface. The element is made up of two unequally sized circumferential segments, the bearing engaging over part of the circumference. The bearing is rigidly connected to the tool housing. One segment, pref. the smaller one, is releasably connected to the other one and can be withdrawn for radial positioning of a workpiece. The tool supports a spur tooth rim on its circumference in which >=2 spur wheels engage. Pref. the bearing consists of support rolls with toothed flanges engaging teeth in the base of spur grooves. The latter teeth are pref. made of a PVC belt with teeth on one side.</p> |
