PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve continuous traveling of a railway vehicle because power conversion can be continued by a power conversion apparatus even when a temperature of any one of arms functioned as first arms becomes higher than an upper limit temperature allowing use of the arm on management or a failure occurs in the arm.SOLUTION: A power conversion apparatus in an embodiment includes at least three arms and a switching part. At least the three arms include a plurality of first arms to be used for power conversion and at least one second arm held in a standby state. The switching part replaces the first arm with the second arm to allow the second arm to substitute for the replaced first arm functionally. |
