PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device which can be improved in the accuracy of camera shake correction or optical aberration correction or the like by applying geometrical deformation processing based on the posture information of the image pickup device to an image optically subjected to shake correction and a method for controlling the image pickup device.SOLUTION: An image pickup device includes an optical shake-proof mechanism for driving a shake-proof member in a plane orthogonal to the optical axis of an image pickup optical system in accordance with detected shake, and for suppressing the shake of a pickup image. The image pickup device is configured to determine the reference coordinates of geometrical deformation processing to be applied to the pickup image on the basis of the moving amount and moving direction of the shake-proof member, and to apply the geometrical deformation processing to the pickup image by using the reference coordinates and a geographic deformation amount based on the detected shake, and to determine the coordinates of the pickup image corresponding to an intersection between the optical axis and an image pickup element before the coordinates move due to the driving of the shake-proof member as the reference coordinates. |
