<p>Disclosed is a method comprising, inducing a localized vibration in a non-uniform layer of lignocellulosic material disposed in a transportation device, thereby forming a uniform layer of the lignocellulosic material, the uniform layer having a thickness of 0.5 inch or less, irradiating the uniform layer of lignocellulosic material with electron beam radiation, adding water, acid and heat to the irradiated material to form a mixture, cooling the mixture, and contacting the cooled mixture with an enzyme and/or organism.</p> |
