The invention relates to the field of medicine and concerns a pharmaceutical composition based on ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate and trimethylhydrazinium propionate, having a neuroprotective, nootropic and antiamnesic effect, and a method for preventing and/or treating states associated with a cerebral circulation disorder, i.a. in the case of a stroke and its after-effects and in the case of cerebrovascular and neurodegenerative diseases or memory disorders, said method including administering a pharmaceutical composition containing ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate and trimethylhydrazinium propionate in a therapeutically effective quantity to a patient. The composition has a pronounced synergistic effect, reflected in the considerably improved efficacy of the effect when a combination of ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate and trimethylhydrazinium propionate is used in the composition formulation in the case of ischemic damage to the brain, and it reduces fatalities, decreases neurological impairments, and restores memory.
