<p>An in-ground sprinkler unit (1), having an independently positionable protective shroud, is disclosed. The sprinkler unit includes a sprinkler assembly (see 100, figure 1) and an irrigation pipe fitting. The irrigation pipe fitting has a longitudinally extended connecting portion (2), including a pipe tapping portion (3) at one end, which is connectable to a fluid supply pipeline (12), and an attachment portion (4) at the other end, which is configured to telescopically engage a receiving portion (6) of the sprinkler assembly. The shroud is independently positionable relative to the irrigation pipe fitting. When located in place, the shroud defines the operating position of the sprinkler assembly. The independently positionable shroud enables fast and simple installation of sprinklers, whereby the installer does not need to further dig or fill a hole to raise or lower the whole sprinkler unit. A method of installing a sprinkler unit, and a kit of parts for an irrigation pipe fitting are also disclosed.</p> |
